Mike Skinner and The Streets come home

the streets 01

The Streets are calling it a day, so it was great to be able photograph Mike Skinner’s hometown farewell. Yes, despite his mockney accent, Mr Skinner is a Brummie and a huge gathering of his compatriots packed out the Academy to see them off. Photographing this one was a bit of a challenge as the lighting was tricky and the crowd were just on the edge of dangerous, which made for something of an uncomfortable atmosphere in the O2 Academy – I wasn’t sad to leave after our three songs. This gig also continued a run of shows where I shared the pit with Danny from Concerts Captured, even though I’ve still not shot a show with him of a band that I’m actually a proper fan of. Anyway, have a gander at some of my pics and let me know what you think!

So that’s it for the Streets – but dry your eyes (boom boom!), you can always come back and look at these pics again.
