Finally, FINALLY, I got to shoot a gig featuring three proper bands what play guitars n stuff, starting off with Hyro Da Hero. Actually, I was concerned when HDH first came on, as he was just rapping over a backing track. But then his band turned up, turned on and BOOM, Rage Against the Machine inspired rap/rock. It swiftly got the HMV Institute crowd bouncing and won me over. The only downer was the uninspiring lighting and the fact that I didn’t try sneaking a few with flash (although THAT changed for the later bands on the bill).
Our Hero (see what I did there??) loved going into the crowd.
Just to ensure the crowd loved HDH, they managed to get The Blackout’s Sean Smith to come on stage and join them for a song – ultimate win.
This is that BOOM moment I mentioned earlier…
Anyway, Hyro were great and I will definitely be checking out their album. I also met Mr Hero on the way out and got a man hug – bonus!
